The North End is a neighborhood in the northeast side of Detroit. It is approximately bound by East Grand Boulevard to the south, Woodward Avenue to the west, bordering New Center; the Chrysler Freeway (I-75) to the east; and woodland street to the north, bordering Tennyson street in Highland Park.
Interesting history regarding The North End is many Motown musicians came from The North End including Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, the Four Tops and Aretha Franklin.
The North End residential is benefiting from the significant development growth in Mid Town and the New Center area. Some of the more notable developments include the $155 million Henry Ford New Center Cancer Pavilion, which will treat nearly 5,000 patients a year, the $350 million re-development of the Michigan Central Train Depot by Ford Motor Company for their new Mobility Headquarters and Dan Gilbert’s $1 billion re-development of the Hudson’s site into what is anticipated to be the tallest building in Detroit at 912 feet in height to include residential, office and retail space.
